History of SCSA

About Us
South Charlotte Soccer Association
SCSA was formed in the 1998-1999 NCYSA season.  Three challenge teams started the association with the help of Ralph Wager, Richard King and Chuck Yates.  SCSA has experienced growth to a 52 team association during the 2005/2006 season, by providing training and services to the membership.

SCSA is currently the 6th largest Classic and the 8th largest Challenge association in the State of North Carolina. The tradition of excellence and success is being reached on and off the field at SCSA. It is the intent of SCSA to continue to provide a first class soccer experience for all levels of NCYSA play. SCSA is a family based association that has taken great steps to become a full service professional soccer association. SCSA brought on board a full time coaching team - headed up by Executive Director Brad Wylde - in Feb 2005.

SCSA has a stong sense of community and supports rec affiliations with Olde Providence Rec Association, Ballantyne Y and Calvary Church. The relationship with OPRA has been the building block for the success of the SCSA program - as a most active feeder system thru the years. The SCSA soccer players are encouraged to particpate and become active members of the additional sports offered.

SCSA has built a good reputation for caring for the community and the Parks/Rec & CMS facilities that it uses. It continues to focus on field maintenance and improvements to the facilities to help keep the fields and parks first class.

At SCSA we pride ourselves on offering competitive soccer for all ages regardless of age, ability and gender.  Teams are established from the challenge level (one step up from recreation) to Classic and Premier soccer (the highest level of youth soccer) competing state and region wide. Our coaches at SCSA are one of the highest qualified staff in NC with A license Directors and close to 80% of team coaches licensed under the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). We hope the families and players have noticed the improvements and opportunities made to the SCSA program in our training over the last year.

One last note: Please remember our SCSA philosophy and approach:
